My Wine Friday Post
Drinking good wine with good food in good company is one of life’s most civilized pleasures.
Michael Broadbent
The best time to talk about wine is definitely Friday or weekend. Here is an interesting information from the Stephen E. Ambrose’s book Undaunted Courage: Meriwether Lewis, Thomas Jefferson, and the Opening of the American West:
Thomas Jefferson’s salary was $25,000 per year, a princely sum, but his expenses were also great. In 1801, Jefferson spent $6,500 for provisions and groceries, $2,700 for servants, $500 for [private secretary Meriwether] Lewis’s salary, and $3,000 for wine.
So if you think that you spend a lot for wine – you can see now that actually you don’t.
I’ll tell you tomorrow what is one of my favorite wines.
