Creative/Casual/Cuisine – My Tuesday Lunch

I judge a restaurant by the bread and by the coffee.

Every Tuesday we explore our local restaurants, trying to find the best place for lunches. I visited a lot of restaurants since our blog was created. I ate absolutely great food, but sometimes, it was awful (I know – I have a dangerous job). I also found out that if a décor was horrible a restaurant could still offer delicious food.

So today I had a blast – I had my lunch in the restaurant with an amazing décor and unbelievably delicious food. Not Your Average Joe’s has several locations in Massachusetts. I have been in Randolph.

“The décor differs from restaurant to restaurant, but the quality of service and food is the same. We do see the GM’s as owner operators, and encourage them to let their personalities come through”, – Steve Silverstein says, the founder of the restaurant.

Steve is a really wonderful person and it was pleasure to talk to him.

What is your average day like? Wake up very early, lots of coffee and go through the numbers form the day before, fire off a few emails.  Get some exercise and hit the road.  Rarely in the office.  Spend much of time working on things that can grow and improve the company – new talent, sites, etc.

What do you like most about your job? Making our guests happy, seeing people succeed, love my team – they’re family to me.

What do you like least about your job? Hearing about a poor guest experience.

Why should a prospective diner choose yours? We serve innovative, made from scratch food at affordable prices, with exceptional service – service is our competitive advantage.

What dish is your signature dish and why that particular dish? Our famous mustard crusted chicken – it’s a highly craveable dish!

That is what I ordered today – their famous Mustard Crusted Chicken. I know now why Steve recommended me to try it – so crisp, and so tasty.  There are a lot of restaurants that offer many different kinds of mustard crusted chicken but – honestly – I’m not sure that after I’ve tasted it in Not Your Average Joe’s, I will be able to eat it at other restaurants ever again.

Everything was delicious there – from my raspberry lemonade to fresh crusty bread with olive oil and cheese dip.

It’s definitely a place that is hard to beat: great atmosphere, very friendly service and… outstanding food.

I asked Steve to describe Not Your Average Joe’s in 3 words:

Creative casual cuisine, – he replied.

I would add one more word: delicious.

One of their locations is at 16 Mazzeo Drive in Randolph.
