Red, White & Ewe Cookout for July 4th
You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.

If you’re thinking to go out to celebrate the 4th – don’t forget that some area restaurants are taking the opportunity to enjoy a few days off.
Here is what we would like to suggest: celebrate the 4th with Chef Joseph Margate in the Liberty Hotel’s courtyard. From 5pm to 8pm he’ll be grilling Lamb sliders and kebabs. $25 ticket price per person gets you a combination of four sliders or kebabs, and one glass of MacMurray Pinot Noir from Sonoma County or one Michter’s cocktail.
You will try Lamb kebabs with lavender salt, Lamb kebabs with mango chutney and tandoori BBQ sauce, Spicy meatball sliders with lamb chopper cheese sauce, or “Pulled lamb” with grilled peaches and peach/bourbon BBQ sauce.
The tickets can be purchased online. But if four sliders or kebabs are not enough you may always buy some more during the event – for $4 each.
What better way to spend Independence Day than listening to live music by Conscious Reggae Band and enjoying of lamb masterpieces by Joseph Margate?
